Scrap Cars to keep Air Ambulance flying

Cornwall Air Ambulance is set to benefit from a new scheme turning scrap cars into cash for charities.

Henry Orchard and Sons has launched Cars 4 Cornwall to generate funds for a safer, cleaner Cornwall, raising funds for two of the county's leading charities.

The scheme gives owners of scrap vehicles a chance to ‘donate’ the value of their scrap car to the Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust and Clean Cornwall, a charity that works to help keep Cornwall litter and waste free.

Henry Orchard and Sons managing director, Henry Orchard said: “As an organisation we are committed to helping to improve Cornwall for the benefit of everyone.

“We’ve been thinking for a number of years about how we can increase our involvement and make a truly positive impact on our beautiful area.

“Thousands of cars are scrapped every year and often the owners don’t really know what to do with the proceeds so they often ask us to donate it to charity.

“With Cars 4 Cornwall we can offer vehicle owners a chance to spit all the proceeds between two amazing charities and help to make Cornwall a cleaner and safer place.”

Lady Mary Holborrow, chair of trustees of both the Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust and Clean Cornwall, said: “I have known Henry for a number of years and the work he does to lead on sustainability and keep Cornwall clean is fantastic.

“I think the Cars for Cornwall initiative is a fantastic idea and will help two organisations I am proud to be involved with.”
