Family Fun Day Returns to Pencarrow House

FAMILIES can enjoy a fun day out for just £10 at this year’s Cornwall Air Ambulance Family Fun Day on Sunday 17th August.

The annual event will once again take place at the beautiful Pencarrow House and Gardens at Washaway near Bodmin, starting at 10:30am.

Last year around 3,000 people attended the event raising vital funds for Cornwall Air Ambulance.

There will be something on offer for everyone, from traditional fairground games to a unique ‘laughter yoga’ session and medieval re-enactment.

Event organiser Becky Wise said: “We can’t wait for this year’s family fun day! Among all the other excitement and fun on the day, this will be one of the last opportunities people will have to see our iconic EC135 helicopter before the new Cornwall Air Ambulance aircraft arrive in December.

“Depending on missions, the helicopter will be popping in to give our wonderful supporters chance to have a look around the aircraft and meet our lifesaving aircrew.”

With a family ticket costing just £10 – including free entry to the stunning gardens of the Pencarrow estate – the day promises fun for the whole family at an affordable price.

In the children’s area a bouncy castle, traditional games, Donkey Rides, facepainting and a storyteller will be on offer, among many other fun activities.

A gleaming selection of classic cars will be on display at the Car Show, whilst the arts and crafts fayre will feature dozens of local producers.

Four-legged friends are welcome, with a fun dog show taking place, run by the St Francis Home for Animals. Categories will include Waggiest Tail, Fastest Bonio Eater and Best Trick.

There will be live music and entertainment throughout the day from the likes of the Roche Brass Band, Playrite Theatre Group, Debbie Delara Dance and the Black Company Medieval Re-enactment Group.

A selection of food and drink will be available throughout the day from various stalls as well as a licensed bar.

For the first time, the day will also include the Cornwall Air Ambulance ‘It’s A Cornish Knockout’ competition.

The charity is inviting people to get together with colleagues or friends and enter teams of 8 to 10 people in the ultimate fun team event.

Teams will slip-slide their way around the giant foam- and water-filled obstacle course, battling to be crowned Cornish Champions.

A family ticket costs just £10 for two adults and two children. Other tickets are £3.50 per person, with children under 5 admitted free.
