Family Fun Day Raises £5,000

The Cornwall Air Ambulance Family Fun Day returned to Pencarrow House and Gardens near Bodmin on Sunday 17th August 2014.

The event raised over £5,000 for the charity, whilst the first It’s A Cornish Knockout competition – held as part of the day – is expected to raise a further £7,000.

Despite a wet start to the day, thousands of people turned out to enjoy the entertainment on offer, which included a dog show, craft fair, fairground games, donkey rides and even a medieval re-enactment.

There was a visit from the Cornwall Air Ambulance helicopter and crew, with visitors enjoying the opportunity to look around the aircraft and meet the crew.

The star attraction was the charity’s inaugural ‘It’s a Cornish Knockout’ competition, in which 16 teams of friends and colleagues took on a giant inflatable obstacle course, chasing the title of Cornish Champions.

The competition was won by the Outshine Laundry team from Bodmin, who dressed as Where’s Wally.

Becky Wise, event organiser from Cornwall Air Ambulance said: “The event truly was a knockout success for us! We were so thrilled with how many people turned out to enjoy our family fun day, in spite of the rather damp weather at the start of the day!

“We’d like to thank everybody who came along on the day – whether stallholder, exhibitor, visitor or volunteer. Everybody there on the day has helped keep Cornwall Air Ambulance flying and saving lives.”
