Mary Phillips' Tractor Raffle Draw

Well-known Cornwall Air Ambulance fundraiser Mary Phillips - better known as 'Mary Tractor' - is repeating her famous tractor drive the length of the UK - except this time, she's not stopping at John O'Groats!

In 2012, Mary raised £15,000 to be split between the Cornwall and Devon air ambulances by driving her 1953 Field Marshall Series 3A tractor from John O' Groats to Lands End - a distance of over 950 miles at a sedate 9 miles per hour. The whole journey took Mary 17 days, during which she celebrated her 72nd birthday!

In June 2013, Mary will repeat her epic journey, but this time she's heading for Dunnet Head - technically the most northern point in mainland Britain and about 11 miles further north than John O'Groats. Mary is hoping to beat her fundraising total from last year.

This year, Mary has come up with an exciting new way of fundraising after Richard Bardwill from Holsworthy donated a 1955 Ferguson tractor for Mary to raffle off. Tickets will cost £1, and there are other prizes which will take up a little less room, including a beautiful dolls house.

The draw will take place on Tuesday 17th September, 12 noon at Hatherleigh Cattle Market.

Mary would like to hear from anyone who would like to sponsor her trip, or can offer the use of a lorry to bring her tractor back from Scotland.

Anyone who can help or would like to buy raffle tickets or books of tickets to sell, can call her on 01840 211501 or drop in to Devtrac at Hillsmoor in Hatherleigh, telephone 01837 811050.
